Entrust Government Solutions has an immediate career opportunity for a Systems Engineer with DoD Systems Engineering Acquisition Lifecycle and DoD 5000 knowledge and experience to join our Government solutions team in Norfolk, VA. This person will serve as part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competency, reliability in delivering mission critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security. Qualified Systems Engineers applicants will have a strong background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Oversight of infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Ability to see potential issues and proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure accessibility
  • Monitor and test performance of applications, foreseeing potential bottlenecks and identifying possible solutions
  • Ability to work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies
  • Competency in writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention
  • Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems
  • Consistently and successfully provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Excellence in communication as a liaison with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues
  • Occasional travel to conduct site surveys or support LRIPs
  • Using software disk imaging/cloning programs
  • Regression testing of 3rd party software with integration test reporting and documenting
  • Familiarity with the DISA, Patch Repositories, and Information Assurance Support Environment
  • Documenting IT system build process and create system engineering drawings
  • Ability to research technologies and present a documented analyst to customer
  • Organize, orchestrate and prioritize project engineering task
  • Understanding and applying Enterprise Project Management (EPM) 2.0 process and documentation for engineering projects
  • Applying cyber security scans and STIGs to engineering builds

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Management Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • U.S. Citizen eligible for DOD Secret clearance
  • DoD Systems Engineering Acquisition Lifecycle experience
  • Defense Acquisition University ACQ 101 certification
  • Defense Acquisition University ENG 101 certification
  • Current Security+ certification
  • Minimum of one IAT Level III certification (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH) -- this is a necessary requirement for this position on this contract
  • 10+ years hands on experience installing, configuring and maintaining Microsoft Client and Server Operating Systems
  • 4+ years Systems Engineering experience to include Requirements Analysis, Functional Analysis & Allocation, Design Synthesis, Developmental Testing, Operational Testing, and Conducting & Leading Technical Reviews
  • Strong inter-personal and leadership communication skills to carry out this assignment with the ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • MCP or MCSE with Hyper-V experience
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot problems in complex systems and network environments
  • Understanding of network and system security principles and techniques
  • Understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and IP configuration
  • Experience with the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network devices, virtual machine hosts, and virtual machine guest deployment (installation, configuration, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Windows XP/7, Windows 10 Secure Host Baseline, Microsoft Outlook 2010/2016, Microsoft Office Suite 2010/2016, Microsoft Exchange 2003/2010/2016, and Microsoft Server 2008R2/2016
